NAWJU Leadership in Benchmarking Visit in Kenya

A delegation from the National Association of Women Judges- Uganda (NAWJU) headed by the Association's President of NAWJU met with the Chief Justice of Kenya, Hon. Lady Justice Martha Koome.

The visit was part of a three-day benchmarking training that started on May 18, 2022 ahead of the IAWJ Regional Africa conference scheduled for October 2022. 

The delegation is sharing experiences and learning from their sisters in Kenya since they hosted such a conference in 2017.

On her part, the Kenyan Chief Justice confirmed her attendance in the African Regional IAWJ conference in October which NAWJU and the Ugandan Judiciary alongside the International Development Law Organization are hosting. The CJ is slated to make a keynote address at the Conference.

The meeting was attended by President IAWJ Kenya Chapter, the Principal Judge, NAWJU Treasurer Court of Appeal's Hon. Lady Justice Elizabeth Musoke, member NAWJU HW Winnie Kyobika and IDLO Kenya and Uganda Country Director as well as judges and magistrates from Kenya.

The Chief Justice said the benchmarking meeting between the two countries is good and helpful.

She also said that she looks forward to a world which is gender sensitive.
